Republic of Doyle: A popular crime novelist wants to shadow Jake on a case; Jake isn't happy about it, but Mal has already accepted the fee. The case seems easy enough: find the philandering wife of an oil executive who is out on a bender. The case, however, becomes complicated when love affairs turn to murder, and business turns to fraud and blackmail. To make matters worse, Mal is away and no one will tell Jake where he's gone. Jake tries to restart his relationship with Leslie, who might be willing to give it a go, but only if Jake changes his ways.
