Little House on the Prairie: The orphanage in Sleepy Eye faces a difficult situation when two young brothers meet with a potential adoptive family. Little Josh's refusal to speak leaves the man and woman concerned about possible emotional trauma, and rather than risk the trouble, they propose adopting just the older son Michael. When the head of the orphanage decides to allow this, Michael and Josh flee for the nearby blind school, where the kindly Houston takes them in. As he becomes aware of the problem, Houston secretly takes the boys away to a deserted area, in an effort to "buy some time" for them. Houston's old age and lack of income do not qualify him to adopt the children, and when his anguish leads to physical illness, Charles and Jonathan step in to help the orphanage reverse their decision about separating these boys.
