Maverick: Bret travels to Hollow Rock, Wyoming to take in a Fourth of July horse race and is immediately set upon by a nest of vipers who are led by the local Sheriff. After he is beaten and robbed, Bret begins, ever so slowly, to turn the tables on the crooks - while surreptitiously helping his friend, the Colonel, and a pair of young lovers in the process.
